Food parcel pre-check for iTaoBuy shipments

List each packet, its label and date. The tool compares 16 October 2026 route readings and adds our conservative three-month buffer after estimated slow-end arrival. That extra arrival buffer is editorial guidance, not an official deadline or import approval.

Run the pre-check on your parcel

Two example items are filled in. Change them, add up to eight, then press the green button. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

What each box in the pre-check wants

Five steps for using the pre-check: destination, route, dates, items, read the flags
Using the pre-check. The route list only shows routes the estimator returned for that destination on 16 October 2026. Open full-size image

This is how to use the tool. Pick the destination first; the route list fills in from our estimator readings for that country at 1 kg. Routes that iTaoBuy closed to the EU in June are still listed, as the estimator lists them, but marked.

For each item, choose the closest food type. The type decides which estimator sub-category we look up: biscuits, sweets, noodles and tea use Non-Meat Food; sauces use Liquid; jam and chilli paste use Paste; drink and milk powders use Powder; jerky uses Meat Products.

Then give the date the way the pack gives it. If it prints a best-before date, enter that. If it prints a production date and a shelf life in months, choose that option and enter both; the tool adds the months for you, allowing for short months.

Each answer line starts with Recorded, Check or Stop. Stop means a cited restriction, a rejected category or a planning conflict such as expiry before estimated arrival. It is a flag to investigate, not a customs ruling. Check means something needs your eyes: a warning in the notice, an entry in iTaoBuy’s Prohibited Items List, or a missing date.

The label and date flags quote section II of the 3 April 2026 food notice: every food item needs “a clear brand label and an expiry date (production date or best-before date)”, and Sanwu products, meaning no production date, no quality certificate and no manufacturer information, are “strictly forbidden”.

The route flag is a lookup in our 16 October sweep. For each destination we queried the estimator at 0.5, 1, 2 and 3 kg with no category, Non-Meat Food and Meat Products, and at 1 kg with Powder, Liquid and Paste. The tool uses the 1 kg readings. A route either came back with no rejection reason, or with “The parcel contained prohibited articles” followed by the category.

The notes about dairy, soy sauce and tea come from iTaoBuy’s own Prohibited Items List, updated 10 June 2026, two months after the food notice. It still lists milk powder, dairy drinks and cream as undeliverable. We print that next to the estimator result instead of picking one.

Twelve days in China, by default

12 days is an editable planning input

Seller handling, domestic transport, warehouse work and your own waiting time all count. Business-day estimates do not add up to a guaranteed number of calendar days.

The tool asks how many days pass between your order and the parcel leaving the warehouse, and starts with 12 as an editable example, not a maximum or a service promise. iTaoBuy’s Shopping Information page says sellers “usually” ship within 3 to 7 days, with a first reminder on day 4, and the logistics instructions say domestic parcels “usually” reach the Guangdong warehouse in 3 to 5 business days. Allow additional time for warehouse processing and packing. These estimates use different clocks, so enter your actual expected wait rather than adding them as a guaranteed calendar schedule.

Change the number if you plan to wait. Many buyers let items collect in storage for weeks so one parcel can carry several orders. That is fine for clothes. For food, each week of waiting comes straight off the shelf life, and the storage page says the warehouse does not cover it.

If a seller is out of stock, iTaoBuy waits 72 hours for your reply before cancelling, which can add days too.

Limits of the pre-check, stated plainly

Two columns: what the pre-check reports and what it cannot know
The limits are deliberate. A tool that claimed to know what a border admits would be inventing it. Open full-size image

It cannot tell you that a food is allowed into your country. Nobody outside that country’s border service can, and the pages we quote are careful to describe categories, not your particular packet.

It cannot see inside the pack. Instant noodles are a good example: GOV.UK lists “pasta and noodles, but not if mixed or filled with meat or meat products” among foods without restrictions, so a beef seasoning sachet may matter. Read the ingredients on the listing photos.

And it can go stale. Routes are renamed and repriced; the April notice itself already uses names the estimator no longer shows. If our readings are older than two weeks when you read this, run the iTaoBuy freight estimator yourself with the same sub-category.

A route mismatch may be resolved by a different route, parcel split or omitted item. A prohibited product or destination restriction may mean not ordering it at all. A matching category does not settle that question.
